Faith Community Church serves the youth by equipping them to develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be a follower of Christ. Statistics tell us that young followers are walking away from their Christian faith as they begin interacting with the world in college and early adulthood. What we don’t see in those same statistics is why that happens. We must turn our attention to the Parable of the Sower in Luke 8: 4-8 to better understand why.
Jesus speaking to a large crowd shares a parable of a farmer sowing seeds in four different soil types. Only one type of soil (heart) allowed the seed to grow and yield a hundredfold. It was the “good soil.” The soil was fertile, tilled, weed-free, and stone-free, allowing the seed (God’s Word) to take root and grow to its fullest potential. Young people are walking away from their faith because they never walked into it, to begin with.
In our youth program, we want to prepare our students' hearts to accept the truth of God’s word and help them be all that He calls them to be. We do this by meeting them where they are and journeying alongside them.
This year’s theme is Foundations, and we are equipping our students to build their houses on rock, not sand.
We meet for leadership, discipleship, and fellowship Wednesday afternoons from 6:30-8pm at church. If you would like to learn more, please email our youth teacher. You can see our youth event/teaching topics calendar HERE.
